More than 100 Associations, representing Europe’s packaging industry, have written to EU Member States, urging them to uphold the Single Market or face huge supply chain disruptions when adopting their General Approach on the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).

On 12th June 2019 the new SUP (single use plastics) directive for reduction of the impact of certain plastic products on the environment was published in the Official Journal of the European Union.
On 20th May 2019 new rules set into force in the EU for marking packaging of cigarette and related products. Every pack should be labeled with an individual ID code to combat illegal sales (smuggled cigarettes).

Οn 10th May 2019 in Geneve new decisions on plastic waste have been reached, as approximately180 governments adopted a draft of decisions aimed at protecting human health and the environment from the harmful effects of hazardous chemicals and waste.
On Thursday March 14th Ellen MacArthur Foundation , UN Environment and GPAP published the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment Spring 2019 Report, detailing the targets and actions of all business and government signatories.
