More than 290 Organizations,Institutes and Companies signed the Ellen MacArthur Foundation-led initiative in collaboration with UN Environment to eradicate plastic waste and pollution at the source "The new plastics economy global commitment".
Signatories include well-known consumer businesses such as Colgate Palmolive, Danone, H&M group, Henkel AG, Johnson and Johnson Consumer Inc., L'Oréal, Mars, Marc and Spenser, Nestle , PepsiCo, The Coca-Cola Company, and Unilever; major packaging producers such as Amcor, Constantia Flexibles, Greiner, Mondi, and Sealed Air; plastics producers such as NatureWorks and Novamont; retailers such as Carrefour, Walmart; international associations such as Flexible Packaging Europe, FoodDrinkEurope, China Plastics Reuse and Recycling Association, International Solid Waste Association – ISWA, Netherlands Institute for Sustainable Packaging, Plastics Recyclers Europe and WRAP-UK.
The main targets are:
- Eliminate problematic or unnecessary plastic packaging and move from single-use to reuse packaging models
- Innovate to ensure 100% of plastic packaging can be easily and safely reused, recycled, or composted by 2025
- Circulate the plastic produced, by significantly increasing the amounts of plastics reused or recycled and made into new packaging or products
- All plastic packaging is free of hazardous chemicals, and the health, safety, and rights of all people involved are respected
AGMPM is the only Greek Association who endorsed this new initiative and become an active part of this great community mobilizing all actors globally behind a common vision.
