On November 6, 2017, World Packaging Organization (www.worldpackaging.org), representing 16 countries, met in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and evaluated 318 candidate packages for World Star 2018 International Packaging Awards (www.worldstar.org). This event was organized with the support of the Brazilian Packaging Association (ABRE).
Candidate packaging's that competed and evaluated, were derived from the following categories: 40 from beverages, 7 from electronic devices, 42 from foodstuffs, 12 from household and personal care products, 3 labels, 9 from household care category, 6 luxury products, 20 pharmaceutical and medical products, 21 from transport goods, 6 points of sale, etc..
Winners of the special categories (sustainability, packaging that saves food, marketing) will be announced in January 2018. The Greek entries in this year's competition amounted to ten. For the first time in the history of the international institution our country has put so many nominations.

Candidates who were eligible to participate in the international competition were promoted by the Greek Packaging Innovation Awards 2017. For the second consecutive year, the Greek Competition was organized by Boussias Communications, with the collaboration of the Association of the Greek Manufacturers of Packaging & Materials (AGMPM).
Our Association, as a WPO representative in our country, with this action enables the promotion of Greek products and businesses. Extroversion, coupled with the ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit of the Greeks, deserve international recognition in the global packaging market. Congratulations are worthy to be given to all companies that competed in the Greek competition and especially to those who competed and received the highest international distinction.
