Webinar the role of the bio-refinery in the circular economy and funding opportunities in the EU

On Monday, June 10, 2024, AGMPM in collaboration with the European organization BIC (Bio-based Industries Consortium) organized an educational webinar on the operation of the bio-refinery. In the first part of the event, a BIC representative (Dirk Carrez, Executive director) presented the organization's members and activities, emphasizing the dynamics with the participation of 300 companies and more than 240 affiliated members.
 
The Greek participations were also presented, which now number 15. In the second part of the event, the representative of the BIC organization (Samuele Ambrosetti, Programming and Innovation manager) analyzed the operation of the biorefinery as a unit for processing primary materials as well as by-products of industrial and agricultural activities with the aim of food production or building blocks for the subsequent production of medicines, cosmetics, animal feed, packaging materials, etc.
 
Finally, a reference was made to the Horizon 2020 research programs in which the BIC organization in collaboration with the European Commission has released funding of 3.7 billion euros in the period 2014-2020, while for the year 2024, there are available funds of 213 million euros. Greek research centers as well as industries active in our country can participate in the Research programs, with the submission deadline being September 18, 2024.
