10th Conference and Expo on FPE industry

The  10th Conference and Exhibition on FPE industry  (Targeting Digital Transformation, Green Energy, Lighting, Mobility, IoT, Wearables, Smart Cities, Smart Packaging) – the leading event in the cutting-edge technologies of Flexible & Printed Electronics (FPEs), with a market share of more than 100 billion euro – concluded with great success and eagerness for collaborations by industrial entities which will make use of the innovations, applications and solutions generated by FPEs.

The 10th Conference & Exhibition took place on 12-13 October 2020 at the Divani Caravel Hotel in Athens, Greece, combining both Live and Virtual Participations and was co-organized by the HOPE-A (holding a worldwide network of more than 2000 industrial entities active in FPEs) and the Nanotechnology Lab LTFN (an internationally acclaimed pioneer in the Organic & Printed Electronics’ research and commercialization). The 10th Conference & Exhibition was, also, supported by the Hellenic Association of Mobile Applications Companies (SEKEE), the Hellenic Emerging Technologies Industry Association (HETiA), the Hellenic Association of Photovoltaic Companies (HELAPCO), as well as the Association of the Greek Manufacturers of Packaging & Materials (AGMPM).

The 10th Conference & Exhibition brought together more than 50 companies and 120 top Stakeholders from Greece and from abroad representing a wide range of fields to which FPEs provide added value and groundbreaking applications, i.e. Green Energy, Energy Autonomous Systems, Lighting, Electronics and Communications, Automotive, Smart Buildings, Smart Cities, Greenhouses, Intelligent Packaging and Security, Health Care, Wearables, IoT, etc.

Through 26 inspiring talks, comprising of 8 Keynote and 18 Invited speakers, internationally acknowledged scientists and engineers from the Industry and Research emphasized how the state-of-the-art technologies and applications need to be exploited by the Industry and Manufacturing sectors leading to a Digital, Green and Circular Economy. Key industrial players presented how FPEs could be integrated in new and promising solutions. Business Associations and Cluster coordinators outlined their activities and plan of action in FPEs and in coordinating industrial players with the scope to grab the chance lying ahead and create joint ventures and commercialization opportunities. Moreover, representatives from the European Commission informed the attendees on funding tools there are to support their R&D&I plans.

All participants had the opportunity to learn about our ambitious 14 running EU and National projects like Cornet, Smartline, RealNano, FlexFunction2Sustain, MusiCode, Apollon, Photokipia, NanoAthero, OsteoFit, EKOBuilt, AGRORES, NFCPack, OPENERGY and SpinNano through Oral or Poster Presentations. In the framework of 10th C&E the project partners participated either Live or Virtual in several EU project meetings. For example, the 6M Consortium meeting of the Horizon RealNano project took place. In addition to that, the 34M Technical meeting of the Cornet Horizon Project was held. During these meetings the progress of the planned activities and the next steps of the projects were discussed.

HOPE-A members exhibited their innovative products impressing the participants in 10th C&E. OET presented many Demo Applications related to the Energy and Lighting for Smart Buildings, Smart Cities, and Wearables such as the OPV Solar Bus Station and the OPV Smart Bag. BL Nanobiomed exhibited its innovative products against Covid-19 such as an antiseptic hand spray and nanomasks with nanofilters which were created in collaboration with the Nanotechnology Lab LTFN.
